Transitie – collaborative project with Ciro Abath – 2012/2013

Ciro Abath (Aruba) and me (Curacao) decided to make together one work for the exhibition Tropisch Koninkrijk (in Museum de Fundatie, Zwolle, NL. Nov. 29, 2013-March 16, 2014))

It meant sharing idea’s and information, sharing each others studio and flying (and sailing) back and forth from Curacao to Aruba and vice versa.

The challenge was to create one integrated art piece, while respecting each others visual language and cultural background, thus reflecting the diversity and unity in the culture of our islands.

The result ‘Transitie’ (Transition) is an installation in which strong, dark, mechanical forms gradually transform to more light, open and organic structures.
